Hilary Lawson founded the practice in 2012 after relocating to the UK. She trained at the University of Melbourne and the University of California, Berkeley, registered as an architect in Australia in 1998, and spent seven years at Six Degrees, one of Australia's leading practices, where she was made an Associate in 2011.

More than a decade of working in the South West has built strong relationships with planners, conservation officers, structural engineers, ecologists, heritage consultants, and contractors.
